Facts about Nelson Mandela.

1. He dwelled up to his title: Mandela’s birth title was Rolihlahla. In his Xhosa tribe, the title means dragging the branch of a tree or troublemaker

2. He had a cameo in a Spike Lee movie: He had a big part in Spike Lee’s 1992 biopic “Malcolm X.”
3. There’s a woodpecker entitled after him: From Cape Town to California, streets entitled after Mandela abound.In 1973, the physics institute at Leeds University entitled a nuclear element the ‘Mandela element.’

4. He married a first woman: Before binding the knot with Mandela on his 80th anniversary, Graca Machel was wed to Mozambique leader Samora Machel. Her marriage to Mandela after her husband’s death means she has been the first woman of two nations.

5. He was a master of disguise: When Mandela was eluding administration during his fight against apartheid, he disguised himself in diverse ways, encompassing as a chauffeur. The press nicknamed him “the very dark Pimpernel” because of his policemanmanman evasion methods.

6. A bloody sport intrigued him: Besides government, Mandela’s other passion was boxing. “I did not like the violence of boxing. I was more involved in the research of it

10. He drew his inspiration from a verse: While he was in jail, Mandela would read William Ernest Henley’s “Invictus” to fellow prisoners. The verse, about not ever giving up, resonated with Mandela for its lines “I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.”
