Rohit celebrates his historic double century

Rohit, on Thursday, scored a magnificent 264 against Sri Lanka in the 4th ODI to set records. The right-hander had previously hit 209 in Bangalore last year, against Australia. This was his comeback match after being sidelined due to an injury since August.
The 27-year-old smashed records on way to a brilliant 264 (173 balls, 33x4, 9x6). India amassed 404/5 thanks to the opener's history-making knock. Rohit's outstanding innings ended on the final ball when he was caught at long off by Mahela Jayawardene off Nuwan Kulasekara. He was dropped on 4 by Thisara Perera.
So far, there have been 4 double hundreds in ODIs and all belong to India. Sachin Tendulkar was the first and then Virender Sehwag. Now, Rohit has two.

It was a day when Rohit punished all Sri Lankan bowlers. He started off slowly in the company of Ajinkya Rahane but found his rhythm later. He took 72 balls to score his first 50 but accelerated after the half century. He toyed with the bowling attack, smashing the visitors to all parts of the historic Eden Gardens ground, which is celebrating 150 years.

This is how Rohit progressed to each 50

2nd 50 off 28 (100 in 100)
