10. Jiaozhou Bay Bridge – China

This bridge was opened back in June 2011, and is also known as the Qingdao Haiwan Bridge in China. This bridge starts at port city of Qingdao, crossing over Jiaozhou Bay, and ending at Huangdao Island. According to official reports, $2.3 billion had been spent on the construction of this T-shaped, six-lane road bridge. This is one of the seven bridges in China that are the longest in the world. It is 26.7 km long.

9. Atchafalaya Basin Bridge – USA

The Atchafalaya Basin Bridge happens to be a pair of bridges running parallel to each other. When driving through Louisiana, at times it does not even feel like driving on a bridge, especially when driving between Baton Rouge and Lafayette, down Interstate 10, on this pair of bridges. When driving down this stretch of highway, you will pass over the Atchafalaya Basin. It is 29.3 km long.

8. Donghai Bridge – China

The Donghai Bridge begins from Luchao Port in Shanghai’s Nanhui District, with the Hu-Lu Highway connecting to it at its northern end. After stretching across Hangzhou Bay’s northern waters, the southern end of this bridge ends at Xiaoyangshan Island in Zhejiang’s Shengsi county. This 32.5 kilometer long bridge is included in the Deep-Water Port of Shanghai, which is Shanghai Government’s number one project.

7. Runyang Bridge – China

This bridge crosses the Yangtze River in China’s Jiangsu Province. It comprises of a pair of major bridges, which begins at Zhenjiang from the southern end of the river and ends at Yangzhou on the northern end. The bridge is included in the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway. Along with being the seventh longest bridge, its deck also happens to be 129-feet long. It is 35.66 km long.

6. Hangzhou Bay Bridge – China

The incredible Hangzhou Bay Bridge is one of modern architecture’s masterpieces, which was opened to the public back in May 2008. From the south, this bridge begins at Ningbo’s Cixi county and ends in the north in Jiaxing. Not only is it the sixth longest bridge on this list, it also happens to be the world’s longest sea-crossing bridge. It has 35.67 km long.

It was back in 1979 when this concrete overpass was built over the Manchac swamp so that road traffic could be accommodated. One third of interstate high way 55 is occupied by this bridge. Unlike some of the busier bridges of the country, the traffic on this bridge tends to be paler, but it is still marvelous considering how limited construction used be back in the late 70s. It is 36.69 km long.

The Causeway, or Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, comprises of a pair of bridges that running parallel to each other in southern Louisiana across Lake Pontchartrain. Guinness Book of World Records claims that the Causeway is the longest bridge crossing over water, specifically the waters of Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans. This bridge is so long that no land can be seen in any direction. It is 38.44 km long.

The Burapha Withi Expressway, also known as the Bang Na Expressway, is Bangkok’s elevated six-lane highway. It is a toll bridge and runs over National Highway route 34. It was back in March 2000 when the construction of this highway was completed. The construction of this bridge required 1800 kg/cm³ of concrete. The structure was constructed by Jean Muller International. It is 54.99 km long.

Tianjin Grand Bridge is the world’s first bridge to reach a distance of over 100 kilometers. It is 113.7 km long. It stretches between Langfang and Qingxian, connecting them to each other. Similar to the Weinan Weihe Grand Bridge, back in 2010 this bridge was recognized as the world’s longest bridge. However, in that very same year, the Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge was constructed nearby.

It was back in June 2011 when it was opened. It took merely 4 years to construct this bridge and $8.5 million were spent on its construction. It crosses a portion of the Yangtze River Delta and the Suzhou’s Yangcheng Lake.
