SMART researchers' developed driverless buggies that will now shuttle people around at Chinese, Japanese Gardens

The idea for a driverless vehicle was in response to the Infocomm Development Authority’s (IDA) call for collaboration in May 2013 to transform the Jurong Lake District into a machine-driven “smart city”. An IDA spokesperson stated: "For a smart nation, it is important for us to explore new technologies such as autonomous vehicles."

The driverless buggy will go on trial in the Chinese and Japanese gardens to ferry visitors from one destination to another via a touchscreen or a smartphone app by clicking on preset routes.

The SMART autonomous vehicle is a collaborative project between the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) and the National University of Singapore (NUS).

What would you say if I'll tell you that these rides will be totally free for all visitors?
